About Saugatuck

We are dedicated to the entire experience of craft; from our creative food menu to our unique beers. The adventure started with creating a perfect beer, and we have kept that focus since our opening in 2005 with 31 combined rotating taps plus hard cider and a variety of wines. We operate on a 45-barrel Brew System with 960 barrels of fermentation space and the ability to age over 400 wood barrels at one time.

In 2019, we opened our second taproom in Kalamazoo, MI, and in 2021 we acquired Creston Brewery in Grand Rapids, MI.

All three of our brewpubs share the same love for community and craft beer. We strive to make cozy yet lively neighborhood spots where our neighbors and visitors can gather and be surrounded by good company. A brewpub that sparks conversation, lots of laughter, delicious meals, and excellent hospitality. Or simply, where we can kick back, enjoy a cocktail or a cold pint of beer, while listening to live music.

History

SBC first opened its doors on June 23, 2005, as a small, intimate, start-up brewery on Enterprise Drive, just across the street from our current location, utilizing only a small 3.5 barrel Brew System which is now used for our “Brew On Premise” program. We quickly outgrew the small space and decided to move into a larger location. In 2008, we moved the entire operation to the 25,000-square-foot facility we are currently in. The warehouse was once used as a stamping factory and was completely renovated to feature our Pub and Brew House. We utilized a 10-barrel Brew System from 2008 to 2013, when we installed and began operating on our current 45-barrel system. Along the way, we entered 13 states of distribution: Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida, Missouri, Kansas, Maryland, and Tennessee; along with entering distribution in 7 foreign countries: Canada, United Kingdom, Ukraine, and China.
